The mission of the Children’s House at Johns Hopkins is to provide a family-centered supportive residence for children being treated for life threatening illness and their families.

About Us

The Children’s House at Johns Hopkins opened its doors in 1993 through the generous contributions of The Believe In Tomorrow Children’s Foundation and Stewart and Marlene Greenebaum. More than 3,000 volunteers and over 300 companies joined forces with Believe In Tomorrow to build and furnish this “home away from home.”

The Children’s House at Johns Hopkins provides overnight accommodations, free of charge, to families of children receiving critical care treatment at the world-renowned Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, MD. Accommodating 15 families each night, the facility provides an average of 2,000 overnight stays each month to families from every state in the U.S. The Children’s House is located just one block from the hospital’s entrance and serves as a national model for pediatric hospital housing.

What We Provide

While staying at the Children’s House, families are provided a network of support that allows them to focus on their child’s life threatening illness. Families are encouraged to interact with one another, especially during volunteer-led activities like nightly Family Suppers, which help to promote self-help and mutual support. Our goal is to provide a home away from home when families need it most.

Here are just a few of the amenities available to the children and families who stay with us:

  • Just steps away from hospital entrance
  • Secured and gated private parking
  • Complimentary continental breakfast and family supper served daily
  • Recently renovated, modern double kitchens on each guest room floor
