Maryland Governor Hogan Believe In Tomorrow Visit

Several days ago, Maryland’s Governor Larry Hogan took some time out of his busy schedule to tour our Believe In Tomorrow House By The Sea, and to visit with the families who were staying with us. He was by every measure an amazing person. A cancer survivor himself, his focus and interaction with the children and parents who were spending time in our beach respite houses was an inspiration to witness. He was not in a hurry and he listened intently to everyone who had a question for him, and he asked many questions himself. Governor Hogan was accompanied by his wife Yumi, who was equally as impressive in her compassion and warmth.

As a Maryland based charity that provides services nationally, it was an honor for us to host the Governor and the First Lady of Maryland. For me personally, it was refreshing to observe someone who very obviously and deliberately puts the service of the people of Maryland first and foremost. Unfortunately that is not always the case in the world that we live in.

One of the highlights of the Governors visit was when he was reunited with a young cancer patient who he had been in the University of Maryland Hospital with as he fought his own battle with cancer. She was one of apparently many children that he gave his personal cell phone number to, and he would text and communicate encouragement while receiving chemotherapy. How can you not admire a Governor who does something like that!

I hope that you take a moment to enjoy the photos and stories of Governor Larry Hogan’s visit.
