Believe In Tomorrow National Children’s Foundation celebrates 25 years of bringing critically ill children and their families to the Mid-Atlantic beaches
The Believe In Tomorrow National Children’s Foundation is celebrating its 25th year of bringing critically ill children and their families to the beaches of the Delmarva Peninsula. Since 1986, we have provided over 98,000 individual overnight accommodations to families seeking respite at the Believe In Tomorrow House by the Sea, the Believe In Tomorrow House on the Bay or the Believe In Tomorrow House on Fenwick Island, Delaware.
Believe In Tomorrow Children’s Foundation is a pioneer in the development of pediatric respite housing that helps families by providing a healing, therapeutic environment for them to relax and renew their energies during a child’s treatment process. Our Believe In Tomorrow properties in Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island, Delaware and Ocean City, MD were the first in the United States to provide this unique critical support to families when they need it most.
Believe In Tomorrow Respite Housing provides families with the opportunity to escape from the stressful routine of medical treatments. Most of the children we serve are cancer patients. Often, this experience is the first time that many families have to enjoy one another away from the tensions and anxieties of the medical world. By relaxing in a vacation setting, free of any charges, families are able to renew themselves mentally and physically and spend quality time together while enjoying a wide range of activities.
Believe In Tomorrow Beach Respite Facilities offer the simple pleasures of time at the beach…such as basking in the sun, swimming, building sandcastles, playing in the surf, fishing and walking on the beach from sunrise to sunset. Families are greeted with welcome baskets filled with a menu of opportunities including miniature golfing, amusement parks, boating, eating at local restaurants and other enjoyable activities. All activities are collected by local volunteers and provided through the generosity of local beach businesses.
We believe in keeping families together during a child’s medical crisis, and that the gentle cadence of normal family life has a powerful influence on the healing process. Believe In Tomorrow Respite Housing is available to families on an ongoing basis throughout their child’s medical treatment. This philosophy gives sick children something very special to look forward to, which is an important step in believing in tomorrow.
