(Feb. 1, 2019) Members of the Believe in Tomorrow Prom Court have been hosting fundraising events over the last few months and it all culminates with the sixth annual Prom Night, this Saturday at Seacrets on 49th Street from 7-11 p.m.
“Both [king and queen candidate] sides are so close it’s ridiculous,” Wayne Littleton, coordinator for the Believe in Tomorrow Children’s Foundation Beach Respite Housing Program, said. “If you asked me who was going to win, I couldn’t even begin to tell you, because they are fighting and I preached to them from the very beginning, ‘You never give up, you keep fighting.’”
Competing for prom king are: DJ Stevie Jay, Touch of Italy General Manager Peter Scioli and Atlantic Shores Realtor Maxwell Hulme.
Running for prom queen are: Salisbury University student Nicole Goheen, Photographer Julie Wagner, Radio announcer and DJ EJ Foxx, Pickles Pub owner Brittney Acita and Pasadena resident Ashley Weaver.
The man and woman who raise the most money will be named king and queen.
The competition raised an all-time high of $100,000 during the 2018 campaign. The 2018 Prom King, Frankie Smith, raised $24,000. The prom queen title went to Jessica Jersey, who collected $16,000.
“It’s insane how well the girls have done. The boys … they’re very close too,” Littleton said. “The numbers are going to be unbelievable. We’re probably going to make the overall total the highest ever.”
The party will kick off at 7 p.m. with two buffets, dessert from Sweet Disposition of Selbyville, and a coffee bar provided by Starbucks on 123rd Street.
There will be a silent and tricky tray auction with sports memorabilia, jewelry, autographed items, gift baskets, game tickets, restaurant gift certificates, and hair salon packages as well as other items.
Guests are encouraged to get their groove on with 70s-inspired outfits. A costume contest will take place throughout.
“I’m looking forward to seeing everybody and the good thing about the 70s theme is it’s such a wide range from the beginning of the disco era to John Travolta in ‘Grease, ‘Star Wars’ and other great movies in the 70s, it’s been pretty interesting the ideas people are going to come with,” Littleton said. “I’ve been looking forward to it and I hope everyone has a good time and it’ll be a lot of fun.”

Partygoers can look forward to happy hour prices and mystery boxes sponsored by Park Place Jewelers.
Full Circle will play inside Morley Hall, there will be a photo booth and Joe Smooth and Remy are slated to provide live music in the dining area, Littleton said.
A treasure chest designed like a “Star Wars” Star Fighter with three compartments will unlock prizes such as bracelets worth $1,000 and $500 from Park Place Jewelers and a weekend getaway at the Holiday Inn along with a $100 gift card from Nantuckets. There will be 100 keys sold at $20 a piece with only three able to open the locks.
The prom court members will have raffles going on during the event. Items include an autographed guitar and gift cards as well as other prizes.
Attendees can add their votes to the king or queen categories for $1 until the announcement of prom court winners around 10:30 p.m.
The prom king and queen winners will receive personalized gift baskets, including gift cards and various donated gifts from local businesses. The prom queen also typically receives a bouquet of roses.
