National Nonprofit Celebrates 30 Years of Helping Critically Ill Children
The Believe In Tomorrow Children’s Foundation reflects on 30 years of making a difference

The Believe In Tomorrow National Children’s Foundation celebrates 30 years of helping critically ill children and their families. Believe In Tomorrow is a national leader in exceptional hospital and respite housing services, and has provided over half a million overnight accommodations to children and families since its inception in 1982.

Believe In Tomorrow’s mission is to keep families together during a child’s medical crisis, thus promoting a sense of normalcy, hope and comfort to families in a setting that enables them to renew their spirits mentally and physically. Families have traveled from every state in the U.S. and over 72 countries worldwide to utilize Believe In Tomorrow’s programs.

Believe In Tomorrow pioneered the concept of pediatric respite housing and is the largest provider of pediatric respite housing in the United States, allowing families to take a respite from illness, free of charge, at one of five mountain and beach retreat properties. Believe In Tomorrow is also the primary provider of residential services for critically ill children receiving treatment at world-renowned Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, MD. One of these properties is the first, and only, stand-alone residential facility nationwide to exclusively serve the long-term housing needs of pediatric bone marrow transplant patients and their families.

Believe In Tomorrow is a leader in pediatric support services for critically ill children whose parents serve in the U.S. Armed Forces, who must travel to receive treatment at military hospitals, often located far from family members, friends, and an overall community of support. Believe In Tomorrow’s Military Initiative provides this support system by prioritizing military families in all our programs, with two of the five pediatric respite facilities dedicated to servicing these families.

Additionally, the Hands On Adventures program is an extension of the foundation’s respite housing, featuring a web of strategic national partnerships with the Professional Bull Riders, the National Hot Rod Association, and the DIRECTV and MetLife blimps, which provide critically ill children with unique opportunities to look past their illnesses toward the promise of tomorrow.

In the words of a mother who experienced Believe In Tomorrow’s respite program, “You could smell the peace. You could touch the hope. You could embrace the moment. This was a safe place for me to let my feelings unravel. A safe harbor. Not a retreat, but a respite for my soul.”
