Miracle on 65th Street

We’re thrilled to announce the upcoming Grand Opening of the Believe In Tomorrow Children’s House By The Sea II — a one-of-a-kind pediatric respite home that will bring joy, comfort, and healing to critically ill children and their families.

Located on the ocean block of 65th Street in Ocean City, Maryland, this brand-new facility — affectionately dubbed the Miracle on 65th Street — represents an extraordinary act of generosity from our community. Dozens of contractors, businesses, and volunteers have come together to donate their time, talent, and materials to make this dream a reality.

This expansion of Believe In Tomorrow’s beach respite program features two three-bedroom townhomes and two stand-alone efficiencies, thoughtfully designed to accommodate larger families, military families, and children with limited life expectancies. Connected by a beautiful walkway to our flagship property on 66th Street, this new space will open the door for hundreds more families to step away from hospital routines and create lasting memories together.

For over 15 years, Believe In Tomorrow has supported the unique needs of military families with critically ill children, recognizing the added stress of military life — frequent relocations, deployment, and separation from extended family — during medical crises. The Believe In Tomorrow Children’s House By The Sea was the first of its kind respite in the nation to focus on pediatric cancer families, and this latest expansion marks the seventh Believe In Tomorrow facility to prioritize the armed services community. Since its inception in 2005, the Believe In Tomorrow Military Initiative has provided over 40,000 overnight accommodations to U.S. military families.

As the Home Builders Care Foundation’s 2024 Project of the Year, the Miracle on 65th Street stands as a powerful testament to what’s possible when compassion and community unite. We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped bring this vision to life:

The official Grand Opening Celebration is planned for August 13, and with it, a new chapter begins — one filled with hope, love, and the sound of laughter just steps from the shore.

Together, we’ve created more than a place to stay — we’ve built a sanctuary by the sea where courage, compassion and hope will live.

“We are creating this respite to be a place where families can gather and be together during a child’s medical crisis,” said Morrison. “Our mission is to create environments that are conducive to healing the mind, body and spirit; and to create spaces and opportunities that make every stay a once in a lifetime experience that helps families to refresh, renew and rebuild their lives.”
