Each summer, hundreds of Believe In Tomorrow Children and families are able to get away for a week at our three beach respite properties on the shores of Maryland and Delaware. This summer we have been able to offer a week at the beach to a few additional families, thanks to the generosity of Mickey Lobb and Wally DeBord, who each donated a beach property for our families’ use.
Mickey is a realtor at Remax Premier Properties in Ocean Pines, Maryland, and as a member of the OC Women’s Council of Realtors, he has helped put together the “Buckets of Love” donations for the past few years. After visiting the Believe In Tomorrow House by the Sea and meeting Program Coordinator Wayne Littleton, Mickey and his wife, Jill, wanted to do more.
They decided to donate the use of their beach house on 100th Street to a Believe In Tomorrow family for a week this summer. Mickey and his wife rent the property through Coldwell Bankers, who prepared a special basket for the family upon check in. The condo association at Century One also waived some of the fees during that time. Mickey said that it was extra special because everyone worked together and chipped in to make it a memorable week at the beach for a Believe In Tomorrow family.
Just around the corner, Wally DeBord and his wife, Bonnie, have also generously donated beach property for families this summer. They purchased the condo about five years ago to have a break from reality every now and then. While attending the Beach Bash event at Seacrets in Ocean City last year, Wally realized that Believe In Tomorrow families needed this kind of break as well.
Wayne helped the couple work out the details, allowing three additional families to visit the beach this summer at the DeBord’s condo. Wally said, “I have had my share of help and support in life. I am grateful for all that we have, and to share it makes it even better.”
