Fiscal Responsibility
Fiscal responsibility — or the efficient use of a balanced organizational budget toward programmatic expenses and minimization of administrative/fund raising expenses — is essential to maintaining the effectiveness of Believe In Tomorrow’s Hospital, Respite, and Hands On Adventures programs. We believe in protecting the rights of our donors as well as contributing every penny possible toward our mission to help families with critically ill children through the healing process.
The Believe In Tomorrow Children's Foundation and the Children’s House at Johns Hopkins are independently audited by McGladrey & Pullen, Certified Public Accountants every year.
The Better Business Bureau recommends that a charity should spend at least 65% of its total expenses on program activities and no more than 35% on fund raising. In addition, the bureau will not accept a charity in its Wise Giving Alliance unless a charity avoids accumulating funds that could be used toward program activities. To measure this, a charity should not accumulate unrestricted funds that are equal to or greater than three times the charity’s expenses for the previous year or the current operating budget, whichever is larger.
Believe In Tomorrow has spent several years as a Better Business Bureau accredited charity after completing a rigorous application process. Since then, the Foundation has continuously maintained the seal of excellence.
Auditing reports for both Believe In Tomorrow and the Children’s House at Johns Hopkins show programmatic and fund raising expenses fall well within these limits. Please take a moment to look through our financial reports.
As a fiscally healthy organization, we help speed a family's healthy recovery.
