Wish List
As the holidays approach and the weather turns cold, we can’t help but turn our attention to giving. Below is the Believe In Tomorrow Wish List of items, large and small, that will help us to continue giving to families with critically ill children through the holiday season, and beyond.
- Soap/body wash, shampoo and conditioner: Regular or travel-sized products will keep families staying longer than thought clean and comfortable for the holiday season.
- Paper plates and disposable cups: The Children’s House allows ample kitchen space for families to cook on their own or join in when dinners are provided. Help them avoid the extra worry of doing dishes after a long day at the hospital.
- Aluminum foil and zip-top sandwich bags: Quart and gallon-sized, regular and freezer bags are needed to keep leftovers from dinners.
- White wash cloths and towels: With over fifteen apartments, most full every night, towels and wash cloths get old quickly. Help families feel at home with new towels to keep them warm and happy in cold weather.
- Stainless steel or any non-stick pots and pans sets: Families are given a spot to keep food and cook in the Children’s House; years of usage has worn down current cookware. We’re looking for up to twelve sets of basic pots and pans, allowing families to make their own nutritious food.
- Oven Mitts: Oven mitts also have wear and tear. Help us replace our current sets.
- Disposable cameras: Families experience special times during the holiday – no matter if they’re in hospital treatment or not. Help them document it.
- Umbrellas: Umbrellas are often the last thing on anyone’s mind, especially a family caring for a critically ill child. Help keep our guests dry.
- Pre-paid domestic and international phone cards: Children’s House staff cannot stress enough the importance of this item. Oftentimes international and domestic visitors are separated by long distances from immediate family and do not have the convenience of planning ahead to stay in touch. These cards will allow them to keep family informed.
- Safeway gift cards: Our families often find themselves strapped for cash; give them the gift of fresh food by allowing them to buy groceries. Gift cards are needed, in however small of increments.
- Guitar Hero for Playstation 2 or Wii: Guitar hero was a Children’s House favorite, bringing kids from throughout the house together to find release in a rock battle. Then the video game disappeared; help us to replace it.
- Big Wish – flat screen tv: Individuals looking to contribute in a huge way could help provide the Children’s House living room with a new TV. Families often gather on the cozy couch to watch TV. Make the bonding experience a little more enjoyable.
