- How do I request a room in the Believe In Tomorrow Hospital Houses?
The first step is to contact your child's doctor's office and have the Medical Office Coordinator, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker send us a completed online referral. If this person is unfamiliar with our online referral process, he or she should call the Family Care Manager at 410-614-2560. Once we receive the referral, we will process your request while taking into account the severity of your child's condition and the nature of your visit. back to top - How does the referral selection work?
A tentative schedule is planned on or about the fifteenth of each month for the following month, leaving room for emergency cases and extensions of current families in the house. Generally we are not able to confirm room requests until three days prior to expected check-in. If we do not have space available for your requested dates, you will automatically go onto the waiting list. back to top - Where do I stand on the waiting list?
The waiting list is not used on a first come first served basis. Children in the greatest medical need are considered first, followed by any outpatient and one night visits. back to top - How much does it cost to stay?
We request a $20 donation per night. It costs $92 per night to operate and maintain each room. If families can afford more than the $20 rate, the additional payment would be greatly appreciated and will help us provide these facilities and services to other families in need. Families should talk to staff prior to check out if there are financial concerns. back to top - Am I able to have a third party pay my expenses?
Yes, whether it’s your insurance company or friends and family please provide us with the necessary information so we can collect payment from any and all parties. back to top - How many family members can stay in a room?
Due to fire codes the limit is six people per room and only one room per family. Each room has two queen size beds. Cots and portable cribs are available upon request. back to top - Do you provide transportation?
Believe In Tomorrow’s Hospital Housing does not provide transportation. Occasionally, volunteer van drivers are available to take families to and from the grocery store, bank, and local attractions. Please ask a staff member for more information upon arrival. Believe In Tomorrow is not able to provide transportation to or from the airport. See a staff member for the telephone numbers to local airport shuttles. back to top - Will I be able to do my laundry while I'm there?
Yes. There are coin operated washers and dryers that cost $1 to wash and $1 to dry clothes. Quarters are available at the front desk during office hours. back to top - Do you provide meals?
No. Although some food items are available in our “Free Food” pantries you will need to provide the bulk of your groceries throughout your stay. Three to four times a week, family suppers are provided by our generous volunteers. All families and their guests are welcome. back to top - Where can I park?
If you are traveling by car, you will receive one free parking pass upon check in, for the gated lot directly behind the Children’s House at Johns Hopkins. If you are staying at the House at St. Casimir, free street parking is available at the house, along with a permit for the gated lot behind the Children’s House at Johns Hopkins. back to top - Can I walk to the hospital?
