Wherever you live in the United States, you can make a big difference in helping us expand our programs and services to even more families in need. Here are just a couple of ways that you can help. Snowmageddon at The Believe In Tomorrow Children's House at Johns Hopkins Many families staying at our hospital housing facilities, including the Believe In Tomorrow Children’s House at St. Casimir, and families staying at Believe In Tomorrow’s House by the Sea, our multi-unit respite facility in Ocean City, MD form strong bonds and friendships. Snowmageddon 2010 and Super Bowl XLIV Weekend at the Believe In Tomorrow Children’s House at Johns Hopkins was no exception.
The biggest snow storm to blanket the mid-Atlantic region in almost a Century, didn’t deter families staying at the Believe In Tomorrow Children’s House at Johns Hopkins from getting into the Super Bowl Spirit – AND a Super, Super Bowl feast, donated by Nacho Mama’s and Mama’s on the Half Shell’s, Scunny McCusker scored BIG with our families gearing up for the game. When word about the delicious Super Bowl spread Scunny was putting together for our guests at the house got out – Perry Seale and his brother in law were the first to volunteer to tackle the ice, snow and unknown number of road closures to pick up the vats of crab soup, crab cakes, pizza pies and other treats for everyone at the house. Perry said, “It was like an adventure. When we couldn’t continue down one road, the GPS would recalculate and we would be on our way, until the next snow filled street.” What would typically be a 15 minute outing in normal conditions, took almost 2 hours, but the wait was worth it! Perry and Jill Seales’ 16 year old son, Eli was facing heart surgery the day after the Super Bowl, so an opportunity to celebrate with family and friends and root for the underdog team was a very special and appropriate way to spend the evening prior to his surgery, especially for this avid football fan. Perry said “Everyone who finds themselves at the Believe In Tomorrow Children’s House at Johns Hopkins is an underdog. When my son witnessed the Saints scoring their game winning touchdown, he jumped up, threw his arms up in the air and shouted ‘YES!’” “It was then we all knew we were really just rooting for each other. Being around others facing the same or similar medical challenges really gives you perspective. You learn you’re not alone.” He added, “My son loved every minute of that weekend. He is wise beyond his years.” 30+ Days till Spring...P2F 2010 is JUST AROUND THE CORNER Want to get in shape, have fun and raise money for a great cause – well, click here to sign up NOW for Believe In Tomorrow’s 14th Annual 6K Run/Family Walk. Families Enjoy The Toughest Sport on Dirt and Other Uplifting Adventures Believe In Tomorrow Families Enjoy the “Toughest Sport on Dirt” on the West Coast and Uplifting Adventures along the Gulf Coast On the Ground with the PBR By the way, yes my family and I had an amazing time yesterday (with the PBR). Our favorite parts were the fire show; the suspense if the riders were going to last the 8 seconds and most of all -- the dancing clown. He was so funny my gut almost burst. On behalf of my family and myself, I would like to thank the Believe In Tomorrow Children’s Foundation for giving us the opportunity to participate in this event. Love and thanks from Believe In Tomorrow Families be on the lookout. The PBR is coming to an arena Near You Uplifting Hands On Adventures… Friday, December 11, 2009 Dear Believe In Tomorrow, This thank you is long overdue, but I was waiting for my sister to download the pictures, so I could give you a taste of what a wonderful time we had. First, I want to thank all the staff (and volunteers). You are truly amazing and kind hearted. We did need to leave the (Believe In Tomorrow House on Wisp Mountain) early, but we are so thankful for the time we had. The boys really enjoyed the time we had at the cabin. They want to go back, even though it’s such a long drive. To my surprise, Jordan loved the mountain roller coaster. When I (first) saw the roller coaster, I thought there is no way he is going to go on it. Not only did he ride the roller coaster several times – he kept wanting to go faster and faster…and this is Mr. Cautious... |
